Shrub/Tree - Not sure of the Name

I believe that this is a perennial and that it does flower, but cannot remember the details of the flower itself. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Trying to find out the name because some construction workers may have killed it, not sure yet since I cannot see if the roots have been exposed. Hope you can help.

I looked at the shrub again and it grows pinkish flowers if that helps.

It's a woody plant but I cannot tell by the leaves what it is.

It's a difficult picture to work from for ID, with the busy background and hard to sort out what the individual leaves are.

If no one id's it from this picture, you might try posting a couple more -- snip a short branch and photo it in front of a plain dark background close up. We would want to see the leaves and also the arrangement of them, e.g. opposite each other or alternating. Then also show a good picture of the flower.

Give us a little more and we will keep trying! :)

The leaves put me in mind of a Spira shrub
