Maple allergy

I was tested for allergies and it turns out I am allergic to these types of trees: Maple, Willow, Beech, Oak and Chestnut. If I get a Japanese Maple for my small row home backyard, will I be allergic to this tree also? Since it has the word Maple in it, is it part of the Maple family with the same type of pollen?

Hello allergyme. Ken here in the Chicago area. Sorry to hear about your allergies.
Maples and Japanese Maples both have the same genus and Acer. They are different
species. Since they are in the same genus, I would think that you would be in trouble
with the Japanese Maple also. I'm not a doctor but that is my opinion. Good luck.
