Calf watch

This is Daisy, she's about to calf for the first time. Everything is on hold and we're ready to help her if needed. It could have happened last night but she's holding on.

We'll put bedding down when she starts, if we lay bedding down now she'll eat it.

Can't wait to see the baby and any progress videos.

As an aside. My sister and BIL raise quarter horses. Last spring they had several mares ready to foal. My brother, who has custody of his 9 year old daughter had sister call him when they had a mare ready to give birth. He got a call at 1 am, woke my niece and brought her to the farm to witness the birth of a baby. Marie was completely enthralled. She was able to pet the filly within an hour of birth. Crazy brother used it as an object lesson. "This is what happens if you let a boy touch you where he is not supposed to." Marie, cool cucumber that she is, looks up and replies "I know Daddy. That is called sex and you don't do it unless you are married." Knocked his socks off.

That was FANTASTIC!
Thank you for sharing the event with us. :D
Is that your daughter? My DD and I were wondering if the calf's eyes are open and if so, she would be the first living being the calf's eyes saw....

DD said "It's a good thing it's not a duck."

Thankyou Elizabeth, The moma doesn't mind if we handle the baby, but get between the other cows and her little one.
