cleaning the perennial beds

Cleaning up the beds in spring sometimes difficult, at least for me. In a couple, where few leaves have dropped, the weedy stuff shows up and early. This is shallow root, easy to pull out with a gentle nudge of hand cultivator. Problem is, one doesn't want to mess with 'good' plants coming up. Even putting in markers won't mark The Spot. Some of the wanted ones are up and easy, some not showing much sign yet.

Annual spring problem!
