Yard keeps dying in the same spots.
I bought a home in the foothills of California that is notorious for clay and shale. I had nothing in the backyard when we moved in. I had a gentleman level and then install 3 inches of black dirt over 2000 sq feet in the backyard. In late October I had the new dirt hydroseeded. The grass came up and looked great throughout the winter. In the spring as soon as the temps hit the 80's certain patches of grass began to die. I tried additional water and fertilizer but nothing helped. In the fall I removed all the dead spots, reseeded, and covered with mulch and they came back like a champ. Now this year thee new grass I just put in is also dying in exactly the same spots. I cant for the life of me figure out what to do.
