Wheatgrass

Anyone here growing wheatgrass? A vendor at the farmers market who has juices asked me. So, of course I go on-line and check it out! From what I can tell, the wheat berries aka seeds are soaked, then 'planted' in shallow container, the grass grows and is ready to mow in about 9 days. What remains in container tossed in compost, start again. Doesn't sound difficult, but does need daily tending.
Checking for tips from experience.

I grow wheatgrass for my cat. I get the seeds from the local Feed Store. I don't soak, but I do plant in a shallow (about 3-4 inch deep) container. Needs frequent watering. I usually dampen the soil first, then sow the seeds, then cover with a light dusting of potting soil. Wet down again. Sprouts quickly, and is good for about a month. Sometimes if it gets too tall and leggy, I trim it with scissors. As long as the root area isn't turning brown, it will continue to grow.
